Pride Events

For the LGBTQ+ community, Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate being who you are and loving who you love. Pride also serves as a reminder of the importance of diversity and inclusion, the joy and power of recognizing the full value of everyone on our team and that the battle for acceptance and inclusion is far from over. 

Develop an understanding of language, terminology, and best practices and “don’ts’s” for creating an inclusive and equitable gender-inclusive environment.

 

 

Opening the QuILTBAG (Queer, Intersex, Lesbian, Transgender, Bisexual, Asexual, Gay) is an introductory session about LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences. This presentation explains sexuality, gender identity and expression, and the various ways we can celebrate and embrace LGBTQIA+ individuals. We will also discuss inclusive and supportive language and the importance of elevating the voices of those who identify as LGBTQIA+.

 

 

Ben will share his story as an openly transgender man who came out at 15-one of the first to do so in his entire town. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Leave with a strong understanding of what it means to be transgender.
  • Understand the importance of active allyship in all scenarios.
  • Feel equipped to be active allies to transgender and LGBTQ+ people in all areas of life.

 

Develop an understanding of gender identity/experience, development, and age best practices for communicating and supporting gender expansive children It takes a village: communicating with supportive and/unsupportive family & tools for finding community.

What exactly does “coming out” mean within the LGBTQIA community? Is it “one and done” or a continual process? Do allies, family and friends also need to “come out?” This session will explore these questions, as well as provide advice and how to assist children, families and friends who are coming out, and more.

Develop an understanding of language, terminology, and best practices and “don’ts’s” for creating an inclusive and equitable gender-inclusive environment.

 

 

A key and growing diversity constituency around the globe and in every organization that needs to be fully recognized and appreciated is the LGBTQ – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer community. And within this community is the hot emerging area of transgender and nonbinary people, which leads to the discussion about pronouns. We will also discuss misgendering, respectful communications and how to be an ally to this community.

 

 

As one of only two openly transgender people in his hometown, Ben Greene has always been the “designated educator.” After giving a TEDx talk during his sophomore year of college at Brandeis University, he took his personal experience of transitioning and transforming and used it to inspire peers, professors, and the public at large. Since graduating from Brandeis University in the summer of 2020, he has spoken in many different domains with the purpose of educating others from a place of compassion no matter where they’re starting from. In pursuit of his passion for a more inclusive community, Ben now works full-time in education and advocacy as a public speaker and LGBTQ+ inclusion consultant speaker, and LGBTQ+ inclusion consultant.
